United Way 2-1-1

Sooner or later, you or someone you know in northeast Louisiana will need help. When that time comes, United Way 2-1-1 will be there. When you call, knowledgeable staff members listen to your problem, assess what services you may need, and provide information and referrals for the most appropriate place(s) in the community you can go to get help. All information is free and confidential. All you have to do is call – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you’d rather talk to someone in person, stop by the United Way office and our caring and compassionate staff will be ready to assist you.

Sometimes "help" means information. United Way 2-1-1 is your connection to community-wide information about non-profits, civic organizations and much more.

Another way to access information is through the Guide to Human Services, This resource will provide fast access to a database of community services in order to provide information about issues such as food, shelter, clothing, abuse/neglect prevention and protection, rent/utility assistance, elderly services, disease support groups, counseling, education, children/youth services, and much more...

United Way 2-1-1 maintains a database of over 500 community services in order to provide information about issues such as food, shelter, clothing, abuse/neglect prevention and protection, rent/utility assistance, elderly services, disease support groups, counseling, education, children/youth services, and much more.

Childcare Counts!

Childcare Counts! is a community impact initiative of United Way of Northeast Louisiana that was established to explore solutions for childcare issues facing working parents and is working to ensure that every child in Northeast Louisiana is afforded developmentally appropriated childcare.  We are currently compiling materials that will outline the impact of quality childcare on children, families, businesses, and economic development. This information will be used as an educational tool for businesses.

Northeast Louisiana Childcare Loan Fund

Childcare Counts! has partnered with the Enterprise Corporation of the Delta, headquartered in Jackson, MS, to establish the Northeast Louisiana Childcare Loan Fund to make loans to creditworthy Class A Childcare Centers primarily in Ouachita and Lincoln parishes. United Way of Northeast Louisiana has received a $50,000 grant from the JPMorgan Chase Foundation to start the Northeast Louisiana Childcare Loan Fund.

Loans of up to $10,000 will be made to centers for improvements that increase the program quality and educational experience for the children served. The Northeast Louisiana Childcare Loan Fund will be available as collateral on these loans.

Childcare Centers interested in applying for a loan should contact Ed Sivac, Enterprise Corporation of the Delta (601) 944-1100 or for more information contact Sydney Heard, United Way of Northeast Louisiana (318) 325-3869.

T.E.A.C.H.

We have initiated efforts to establish T.E.A.C.H. in Louisiana. T.E.A.C.H. is a nationally recognized program that provides scholarships for childcare workers to achieve an accreditation or degree. We are currently working with the Louisiana Department of Social Services to determine how this can be implemented.
